My case with PD of Aug 2002( EB3) was stuck at PBEC until May 23, 2007. PBEC had closed my case multiple times, and had to really fight to get it reopen and finally certified. I have sent emails to Sec. of Labor ( Elaine Chao) twice. Her office was helpful in opening my case. I got reply from her office within a month too. Also, I mailed senators too. Try to talk to senators from your states. I know and understand the pain of you guys, whose cases are stuck at BECs. Personally, I feel that you guys should mail Sec. of Labor, and let her have the attention of these cases. This is really injustice!

Now a days any junior, if they ask me about GC process, I ask them what is the law firm of the company and find out how company handles GCs. Like, do they file at the last moment? do they get into a holding pattern and delay everything etc? One of the questions I directly ask people who seek my advice is , is the company's law firm fragomen? If they say yes, I ask them to talk to their manager and stay away from fragomen and change their jobs if its a slow process.

I read in some posts before that there were 18,000 Eb3 approvals in 2007. Is this true ? If USCIS is allocating unused numbers at the end of the year, then Eb3 India might move fast during the rest of this year.
There are total 27 EB3-I approvals on since Oct'2008. In 6 months, only 27 approvals is not a good number.
Does anybody know why USCIS is not touching EB3-I aggressively and are we close to using all EB3-I for this year already?

Anybody knows what happens to our SS money? If we become canadian citizen do we get that at the time of retirement?

ya in the end i may want to come back to US but you never know if we like it in Canada and my kid settles down there we may end up being there and forget about US :)

Here my 2 cents. Whether EB3 will move forward or not if you are in EB3 you are not in a position to chose. You have only two choices either be in USA or leave. If you decide to stay there is not harm promoting for these new immigration legislations. Even though it may have slightest chance, you have nothing to loose supporting it and working for it. In case it succeeds, you will get your green card much faster than normal process.

Hi All,
I applied for my daughter's PIO card and sent all the documents as mentioned in the instructions sheet of the embassy website along with the self addressed stamped envelope. I heard from my other friends that even after you send everything in order, the embassy people would call and say that they did not receive the self addressed stamped envelop. It happened to three of my friends. I am the 4th one. They called today to tell that I did not send the envelope.
The funny part that happened with my friends is that, they all sent $20 and the package came in the very envelope they sent in the first place, that the embassy said they didn't receive.
Did anybody of you also had the same kind of experience or similar incident. If so, please do share.
Why are they doing like that? Do they really think we would do like that, trying to save on an self addressed envelope? It really bothered me for the fact that the lady from the consulate was utterly rude when talking. I am amazed how in the world, The Indian Government is still hiring such people? Of more then a billion population, is that the best person the government of India could find for that customer service post? Its a shame and I am ashamed that such dic*heads working and representing India?
Coming back to the issue...she said sternly, send $20.00 or send envelope stamped otherwise the application would not be processed.
Folks, please let me know where I can complain about this careless attitude of this monster woman. What steps can I take to make sure they don't do that again? I live in TN and I can't fly/drive to Washington DC. The questions is not about the money, but the way they are operating without any ethics is deplorable.
Hoping to hear all your valuable suggestions.

Recently Government of India have launched a portal where you can log your greivance, here is the link Grievance Redress Mechanism in Government (http://pgportal.gov.in/) .

I filed my 485 in July 11th and have received the 485 receipts. There is a possibility that I might get laid off before Jan 11 (180 days). My H1 B expires Nov 2008.
Questions
1. Can I stay legally in US if I get laid off in Oct 07 ?
2. How can I proceed with my Green Card process ?

But don't you need the original LC approval notice for concurrent filing? It was already included in the I140 filed on July 17. I will just hope and pray that I can receive the receipt notice (or at least receipt number) before August 14~15. Thank you, SVAM77!

I would love to attend the rally. However my financial condition at this time does not permit me. I could have booked a ticket on my credit card but all my cards are max out!
You want to know why I am in this financial deep hole? Well, I have two sons in college and paying out of state tuition, that is over $17,000 per semester for both of them.
My wife on H4 could not work until now that she has an EAD. It is retrogression that I should blame and I would love to do all in my power to obtain relief or bring the issue to the attention of the American public.
In my own way I have contributed to IV both in cash and in kind. I have told me story in countless media interviews. I only wish I could do more for IV financially but alas I am not able to do that at this time.
I would be in the rally in spirit....only I wish I could attend in person.

What this mean is if you filed your 485 before July'30-2007 EAD will never be free for you...

Initially when I first got here, I was elated at a wonderful process to elect the President. It seems like the whole country was interviewing the person for a position. After having witnessed the one in 2000, 2004 and now this one, the entire questioning process is a waste of time and mere charade.
The issues at hand are so go damn complex where no one liners or one minuters could do justice. They always seem to have answers for every god damn question which is just impossible. Even the most intelligent person usually comes to an area where he has not framed his answer and would like to consult.
Specialized topic like Stem Cells to global issues of Global Warming, War, Poverty and very personal issues like religion and abortion, these folks seem to have the right answer in one minute.
By listening to their answers, you are generally getting deceived. While all this is said and done, people however 'third-world' or 'first-world' they are seem to vote for the party and not the person. So, war-mongers and most arrogant pricks would still vote for McCain and others may end up with Obama.
After all this rant, what does it mean for us in terms of legal immigration? Nothing -- coz you really do not know what they actually think and will do when they become one.

Can you give us some more details about the call to get receipt number?
One of my friend called but they said they can only give I-140 Receipt no to employer.
I called USCIS today and they asked my name and date of birth and they gave me my Receipt Number for I-140.
My I-140 was recieved on July 16th and they generated a receipt notice and have sent me...I shud probably recieve it by this week.
Hope u all also get it soon...
