It sure seems that there a lot of frustrated people on a short fuse. Staying focused definitely helps because of both our limited resources and influence. One thing that should be considered though is the greater good. Lot's of things could help an individual's cause. If I had the power to change the law I would start of by issuing green-cards within a month of getting an H1-B. But I don't have the wishing well in my backyard. I wish one of us could locate one and that would be the end of all this confrontation!

People receive emails about info. posted on state chapters. I have asked other chapter leads to post on their chapter boards as well. I am not sure if we have a consolidated, updated and verified list of all the members across all the state chapters to be able to send an email at this time.

I feel that most of the members are not aware at this time. Usually when ever something is happening live at senate or congress, more members visit and follow the proceedings. Since there is nothing like that right now, i think it's time to communicate to all of'em.
Just a thought to increase the momentum. This is a great initiative indeed in this tough economy

In VA can we extend Driving License with receipt notice of h1 extension .

I went to the VA DMV in Sterling yesterday and the person there refused to renew my DL based on my original H1B extension extension RECEIPT Notice, saying there is no 'Date' on this document. :mad: These ppl are too dumb. It says clearly on DMV's website - they will give you a 1 yr extension IF there is no date on that document. Need to take a lawyer and paralegal along next time... :confused:

I don't think EB3-I would be U for more than a month, as I keep saying this year EB3 would be getting some share of spill-over. So even if it becomes U for April that would be temporarily and it would return back in May.

What spillover for EB3 you are talking about? Based on how they interpreted the spillover law last year, EB3-I can't get any spillover until EB2-I and EB3-ROW is current and thats decade away.
I am just trying to get the facts. I am not against EB3-I as I myself is EB3-I and waiting for my turn since last 7 years.

For those who follow NPR news, there is diane Reem show tomorrow on NPR radio and the subject is immigration reform.
It will be a good chance to make some sensible calls, but requesting to make a limited number of calls with clairty in questions, probably one at a time
Certainly a good chance (not to miss) so that our concerns can be heard across the country
If I understood it right, they wanted to remove the 10% per country limit for the Nurses and Physical Therapist since a majority come from 3 countries - India, China and Phillipines

Wow ... Although I am not in consulting business so dont know all the fundas, but what seems interesting to me is "making 100K from 100~200K from active trading and investing in other areas". So I can make 50K if I have 50-100K to invest. Pretty hefty returns :D.. I wish we could chat over the lunch or something
It is not a big deal dude...if not for this immigration system, we could be making even more..think about $80-$100/hr if you are an independent contractor. This a minimum for a decent contract with vendor directly.
And if you have ~100-200K for investments, with some experience and any luck..you could be making another 100K out of it from trading and active investing in other areas. That comes to ~250-300K minimum. There are no bounds when life is free and in this great country. Unfortunately, things have turned discriminative and our potentials are being restricted(atleast for non-EAD guys) and you have to be prepared for getting outright kicked out of this country.

This seems very unfair to people who had earlier PDs (2004 & 2005) and who have waited so many years to file. Now, people with PDs in 2007 will jump ahead of them in the queue just because of this fiasco, juts because they filed earlier. :confused:
dont worry, the above scenario would happen only if pd remaines current.This is highly unlikely. In the next few months PD would retrogress to for instance 2004 , then you'll get your GC first :) Cheer up buddy:)

Preparing for future is one thing but if you think that this is a valuable thread then go with it and enjoy, i just find it disheartening that people are trying to undermine whatever has been achieved by such threads (Like i said, he might be completely right but is there a need to tell it this way) and what are you going to prepare for the future ;) Do you know it ? IV will become ready for elections when we have real candidates with real faces. I request all real candidates to publish their photos and accomplishments, their ideas for the organization; so that we can choose the best person for the job.

Everytime someone questions the stratergy and leadership, blaming back members for inaction is the standard excuse. Let's stop whining and do something. For all those who are upset with the House hearing, please take it easy. Please do not expect the hearing to discuss the details of each and every GC applicant's case. The objective of the hearing was to bring the folks involved in visa bulletins and GC processing, and make them all publically say and agree that Lofgren-Sensenbrenner bill will not flood the country with new people on the borders but at the same time since the federal agencies did not do their job properly, so it would make sense to recapture the visa numbers, and that's it.
I think that this objective was achieved pretty handsomely without much opposition. So everybody was on the same page, other than Ranking member King, whose job in such meetings is to oppose whatever the committee chair is proposing. Rep. King did not have much to say as Rep. Sensenbrenner has co-sponsored the bill. Noticeably, Rep. Gutierrez supported the bill, which means Hispanic Caucus may not oppose it either, hopefully. So it was all good.
The meeting really saddens me though. That is the extent of anyone's power to get USCIS moving? Just hinting to King that the congress is displeased?
I mean I'm pretty sure King is gonna just shrug it off. Listen to how deluded the man sounds. He thinks USCIS is doing a great job, what with all that bragging about efficiency. Obviously he doesn't realize he's standing there, in that meeting. because the efficiency he's bragging about is clearly NOT ENOUGH. In fact, it's pretty much shitty.
To make things worse, those people in there are controlling the fates of thousands of waiting applicants. And they don't even seem to know the difference btw H1 and 485.
I don't want to just go on feeding this negative train of thought. I just wish something more effective can be done. Isn't there a better solution?
