Hi all,
I am going to US this year December. I also took Tickets for my Travel with the same name as in Passport. And in my Passport, my Surname & Firstname are completely mensioned. But my name in all my certificates is in short form like ( S H V My Name). Will this cause any problem in future if I apply for H1B??
Thanks,
Loyalimmi

Valid AP is enough to travel - no one should care about your EAD if you are entering based on your AP. Ofcourse, always carry a copy of the I-485 and your wife can say that you are the primary applicant if they ask for her work status, etc...
Traveling with an AP (w/o EAD) should not be an issue. Good luck!

The American Immigration Council, an organization that does great work fighting for immigrants, annually honors immigrants of achievement. This year they have selected Cambodian-born Luong Ung who has been the national spokeswoman for Campaign for a Landmine-free World. She's worked on that worthy cause for 13 years. Ms. Ung came to America as a refugee of the "Killing Fields" in her native country and has paid the goodwill back by working on a cause that few would argue is vitally important. Congratulations Ms. Ung.

I have requested USCIS to inquire on my status. They did. I got a mail stating that background check is still open.
(800)3755283
1 -2 -6 -1-enter LIN# - 3 -3 -1
Background Check:
1. The Interagency Border Inspection System (IBIS) Name Check
2. FBI Fingerprint Check - Completed - USCIS message
3. FBI Name Checks
I went for my 3rd FP 2 months back.
My question is, Whenever the Finger Print expired in 15 months,
Will ALL 3 of the above background checks be validated again OR ONLY FP validated every 15 months?
EB2 - INDIA
Priority Date: October 2003
I-485 Notice date: April 2004
3rd FP completed on: May 2007

My attorney filed I-486 for me last august and now it's about time for me to renew the EAD. On this page http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=73ddd59cb7a5d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCR D&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1 RCRD
it states that if you filed after July 30, 2007 then a fee is no longer needed. My I-485 application was filed under the old fee structure. Does it still mean I can file without a fee.
Thanks in advance.

I need an advice.
I was in US since Apr 1999. FIled for GC in oct 2000. I got my I-140 approved. But then i had to go back to india as my company transferred me to india office in Oct 2001.
I left that company in jan 2004 and joined another company in india. Then in July 2004 i came back to US thru a consulting firm. An din jan 2005 my client offered a job. So since Jan 2005 i am working at the cients office as their employee. I filed for LC in Sep 2005, it got approved in oct 2005 (Just mised by 3 weeks)
My question is was was it possible to use the PD from my previous GC. which is Oct 2000.My atternoy told me it is not possible. But i saw similer posting on IV, hence i am curious. Also if possible is there any way i can get the old GC at this stage,my I-140 is approved this time too.,

The US Chamber of Commerce is seeking a review by the nation's highest court of the Arizona law that calls for the revocation of business licenses for employers found to have knowingly hired illegally present immigrants and also mandates all employers in the state use E-Verify. The case could settle the basic question of what authority a state or local government has in regulating immigration.

While some may find it a slight to the big picture to discuss the plight of a laid-off H-1B worker (given the relatively small percentage of such workers when compared with the unemployment rate of all U.S. workers), its worth taking a glimpse at the unique circumstances confronting such an H-1B worker and his/her family upon receiving notice of termination from employment. Especially since this dilemma, unlike most others, has a simple fixa regulatory grace period. The underlying problem is that employers rarely give ample notice in circumstances involving a reduction in force. Instead, a two week severance is commonly...

Hi,
I need to get my H1B stamped in Mexico. I know there are some agencies which offer a complete package trip to the Mexico US Consulate. Does anybody know some names and contact information?
I am based in Los Angeles and am pretty close to Mexico border. Do they have something in Southern California? Other places are also Ok.
Thanks,
Prashant.
on a lighter note... just cross the border nah... :D:D but tto ur questions... I think that victorgarcia is helpful...

Members are encouraged to email their questions per the procedure outlined in http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1267 rather than posting them on the forums, leveraging the professional advice available from immigration attorney Ms. Sonal Mehta Verma
As of 20 September 2006, we have received less than 10 nonfrivolous questions in preparation for the next call. This does not meet the critical mass of 20-25 questions for justifying a conference call.
Please follow process listed above for us to consider your questions.

The Supreme Court issued its decision in the Arizona business license/e-Verification law of 2007 and by a 5-3 margin has upheld the law. This is the law that allows the state to revoke business licenses for firms knowingly hiring unauthorized workers and also mandating all employers use E-Verify. This was always going to be an easier case for Arizona than the defense of its 2010 law. For one, the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 which created the employer sanctions system, says that while states may not impose civil and criminal penalties on employers hiring unauthorized workers, it does...
